19th December 2020 – last day of the test run

We took some great roads back to Josh’s place from Bylong.

First was along the Bylong Valley Way to Muswellbrook. We drove towards Scone, turning off to go to Moonan Flat. This little town consisted of a pub and a couple of houses, but there was this great pedestrian bridge hanging over the river that I was obsessed with - seriously it was SO NICE! But I never took a photo of it!

We then drove on the Barrington Tops Forest Road, stopping a LOT to take photos. It was gorgeous. We were actually going to camp at Barrington Tops tonight but it was cold and it wasn't too far to Josh’s place and he wanted to go home. We actually pulled into the state forest campsite and there was no one there. But we decided to go and have a nice sleep in a warm bed. We hadn’t really worked out the sleeping situation and neither of us were sleeping very well, so it was probably a good idea. We got to Josh’s place at about 5:30pm.

The next couple of days were spent fixing up the car and making sure it was ready to go when we were. Josh and his dad put up a rubber seal so that when my side door was open, rain wouldn’t drip inside, Josh did an oil change and fixed some of the things that were bugging him. We also added in another thinner mattress topper to add a bit more to the bed base. We sorted out the bedding situation too, and I left my quilt at Josh’s, opting for the sheet and a shared sleeping bag as it was summer and quite warm.

We were ready to go at Christmas. And me not really wanting to take part in Christmas celebrations, we left just for our trip proper before lunch on Christmas Day
