DAY 74

26th February, 2021

We left the Flinders Ranges, stopping along the road to Hawker to visit the Pugilist Lookout. Pretty sure we have stopped at every single lookout in and around the National Park.

We drove to Quorn, where we bought some fuel, then to Port Augusta. While we were there, we dropped into the Arid Lands Botanic Garden to look at the plants and the red cliffs. It was really pretty.

We stopped for the night at Kimba, home of  the Big Galah and some painted murals. Also home of the best free community campsite in Australia – WITH showers.

DAY 75

27th February, 2021

We drove from Kimba to the ocean at Arno Bay and then along the coastline to Tumby Bay. But of course we stopped at the Big Galah first!

It was a bit windy and cool and the beaches didn’t look too inviting – there was a lot of seaweed. We continued along to Port Lincoln and did a shop at Coles before going to Coffin Bay National Park. We’d picked a campsite called The Pool, which was right at the end along a 4wd sand track. The signs said it would take 3 hours to get there! But it actually wasn’t that bad. It was an amazing drive though – we went past this one beach where the water was so smooth and crystal clear, it looked like a swimming pool. I really wanted to swim in it but we also needed to get to our campsite. We pulled up and picked a site, but then moved later when we went for a walk, as the site we picked wasn’t as good. We also bumped into people we’d seen at Heyfield in Victoria all those weeks ago! It was so random.
