My last day in Lisbon, I wasn't flying until 3pm so I had a couple of hours to explore a bit more. I got out early and had a good wander around. I started off just wandering down the main streets, which were nice and quiet at this early hour.

I wrote in an earlier post that I was trying to find the best pasteis de nata in Lisbon. I'd tried the Belem ones, and I had also popped into a place called Manteigaria too. I had stopped into a couple of little bakeries along my walks as well. There was a final one on my list to try: Pastry San Antonio. It was on the way to Castelo de San Jorge, where I was headed, so I stopped in to try one. The winner, according to me, was Manteigaria, but San Antonio was cute, see below!

I went wandering aimlessly through the castle area next. It was really pretty, with lots of little cobbled lanes. It was still early so not too many people out too, and I felt like I got a peek into what Lisbon was really like.

My next stop was the Miraduoro de Santa Luzia. I had been there before on my first day in Lisbon but it was afternoon and packed with people. It was about 9am by the time I got there today and so there were a lot less people milling about.

From there, I did my favourite thing in Lisbon: wander around the Alfama area. It really was so nice, with its azulejos, crumbling buildings, street art, and quiet village vibe.  It wasn't the easiest area to walk around in, being hilly and having to walk up and down steps all the time, but I could have wandered around there all day. In the end, I made it back to the road by the sea, and walked along it until I got to the Praça do Comércio.

It was getting close to the time I needed to leave so I went back to my accommodation to pick up my bag, then caught the train to the airport and flew home. I'd made a little bit of an error in judgement, however, with what I was wearing, and landed in London in short shorts. I had to walk home in 14°C. It was a chilly walk!
