I left the Verona campsite fairly early. The first step to leaving was actually getting out of where I had parked the camper. I was squeezed in tight, with a really awkward reverse and rock walls on either side. My plan was to reverse out really slowly, getting out of the camper and checking my progress. It was going to be SLOW. But, thankfully, this French man came down to the common area near me, saw my predicament and asked if he could help. I've never been so grateful!

Lucky for me I also know left and right in French so I could follow his directions. It took about 10 minutes or so but I was finally free. I thanked the kind man profusely and drove slowly out the narrow gate and exit. I never again want to go to that campsite, it was too nerve-racking!

Today was going to be a driving day with the final destination being the mountains. This was a fairly long drive, so I picked a place along the way to stop off at: Asolo. I must have read something in a travel book about this place because as soon as I saw it on the map, it rang a bell.

It took about 2.5 hours to get to Asolo and it was pretty hard to find a park - I ended up tucking the camper on the side of a road with a few other cars, then had to jump over the front seat to get out the passenger door. But I made it and left the camper while I went to explore. Asolo must have been on a cycling route, being that it was close to the mountains, as there were loads of people on bikes around the town. I went for a walk through the village, which was really pretty and quaint.

It was about 11:15 when I decided to stop in a cafe in the main square. It was too early for lunch, but I was planning on driving for much of the afternoon so I had a toasted sandwich and a glass of fresh orange juice. I figured that would keep me going!

I wandered back to the camper and left Asolo about 12:15, driving out through the tiny lanes. My campsite for the night was about 1.5 hours away so I settled in for a drive. And I'll have to leave it there so I can cover my next destination properly.... trust me, it's worth it!
