Nothing makes this Aussie Londoner more happy than Spring, as you might have noticed from the past few posts (there is one more to come, bear with me...). January and February are the hardest months to live in the Northern Hemisphere. You see everyone on Facebook posting about beautiful warm (or hot...) days in Sydney, beach pics, outdoors pics for two whole months while it is grey and drizzly and gets dark early where you live. December is ok, because you have the run up to Christmas, but by Jan/Feb everyone is sick of the winter. This year, the winter felt exceptionally long because it was still snowing and cold in March (plus, I went to Norway, but then winter there was snowy and blue skies!).

So when you have the opportunity to don a t-shirt and get out in the daytime without 100 layers, you take it! Especially when surrounded by all this burgeoning life everywhere - trees, shrubs and in the ground too.

I started off my trip by walking to Hampstead, about 15 minute walk uphill from where I live. From there, I went though a few little alleyways and popped out in a very pretty street out the back. The plan was to meander around here but to gradually make it to the top intersection at Jack Straws Castle, then head off towards the Hill Pergola, which I did. Afterwards, I wandered off to a different section of the Heath that I hadn't been to before. I finally worked out where I was, and head off towards Highgate, another charming village of London.

In all, it was about a 3 hour walk, but with quite a lot of photo stops! London in Spring is hard to beat....
