Tromsø was not really a place I knew much about until recently. I was in Iceland doing the Northern Lights tour, where I met an Aussie who told me about this place in Norway in the Arctic Circle that he had visited and seen some amazing lights. I didn't really think much of it - it sounded amazing, but I'd already been fortunate enough to see the lights in Iceland. However, I'd filed it in my brain and thought about it more and more throughout the year following, and decided that I would go there in March to see snow and hopefully more of the Northern Lights.

My friend Krysty was also coming over from Australia to the UK around March and was looking for somewhere on the continent to go. I said that I was planning to go to Tromsø, she looked it up and that was that - I was no longer travelling solo! She even invited a friend along! Actually, I was a bit nervous about it because I know what I'm like - I always travel solo and I'm that girl who crams everything into a trip, walks 20km easily in a day and wakes up at the crack of dawn to beat the tourists. But, as it turned out, I was worried for no reason!

I booked my flight from London to Oslo, Oslo to Tromsø, and an AirBnb. I booked an early flight so I could get to Tromsø in the daylight, but it didn't occur to me that Heathrow is a lot harder to get to than Stansted in the early morning and had to book a taxi to the airport! But the flight went fairly quickly to Oslo, and from Oslo to Tromsø I was glued to the window - the view outside was honestly one of the most incredible sights I've ever seen!

I was at the accommodation about 2pm, unlocked it and dropped my stuff off, then went to the grocery store to buy some food. Then I went to explore while I waited for Krysty and Emma to arrive. It was beautiful outside - so much snow but blue skies and sunny. It did snow a bit though. It was fascinating, you had very little warning that it was coming in then all of a sudden there would be snow all around. After 10 or 15 minutes, it disappeared again! Crazy weather.

The girls turned up, then went to the grocery store to buy food and some takeaway. We all went to bed early because we had an early morning the next day!
