In February, I hired a car and drove to my parents house in Devon. I was going for a few reasons: to escape London for a bit (London in Feb is a bit depressing), to check on their place (they'd been back home for a bit), and to see some places I wanted to visit along the way.

With that in mind, my first stop after picking up the hire car was to go to Lacock. This collection of Abbey, museum and village is owned by the National Trust, which I am a part of. I have kind of made it my mission while I've been here to try cover off as many places as possible, but as they mostly require a car to visit, it usually turns into a long weekend crammed with various old houses and properties within about 4 hours drive from London!

Lacock is just off the M4 motorway, the motorway that leads west away from London, so it was easy to add as a stop. Plus, by the time I got there, I was dying for a cream tea! So I popped into the National Trust cafe for some sustenance before heading back out again. I went to the Abbey (sadly not open all the time), visited the museum on photography at the visitors centre (fascinating!) and wandered around the absolutely beautiful village of Lacock. If you get a chance to visit, do! It's beautiful. And if you're a Harry Potter fan, a lot of scenes from the first movie were shot there!
