We left the campsite at Mount Field at about 10am and drove up the Lake Dodson Road to the top of the mountain. It was a lovely drive. We then did the Pandani Grove walk which I LOVED! It was so gorgeous and unexpected!

We left the Mount Field area and drove through Maydena, taking a turnoff to Junee Caves. We went to have a look and go for a walk – Josh almost stepped on a snake that was sunbaking in the middle of the track! The caves themselves were huge and the river came running out of it through the limestone. The water was lovely, cool and clear and I filled my drink bottle up with it. We took a bit of a “shortcut” from the walk and ended up on the other side of the river though, having to cross it before we got to the car. Josh waded through, and I took the only bridge, a skinny plank of wood that crossed the river. Dicey!

We drove up the road to some amazing mountains – the Sentinel Range. We stopped to take loads of photos.

Then drove to the Serpentine Dam, through Strathgordon to the AWESOME Gordon Dam. Spent some time there looking at the amazing curved concrete wall. Josh didn’t want to come with me but I walked down to the wall itself and along it. There were a lot of stairs, but it was so worth it!

There were very few places to camp along the Strathgordon road so we went back to the rest area near the Sentinel Range mountains. It was supposed to be a day use area but it was empty so we thought it would be ok to stay there. We put the drone up in the afternoon and got some spectacular photos.

Unfortunately, some old drunk men came to the site. We’re pretty sure they played loud music and made a nuisance of themselves to get us out of the campsite. We put up with it for a while, but then drove to another campsite which was quiet but not as nice. Such a shame people ruin it for others.
