I left my house in West Hampstead at 5:30am and walked about 20 minutes to the bus stop for the National Express bus to Stansted Airport. As much as it sucks waking up for early morning flights, I quite like them because I don't have time to stress before I go (I stress about the stupidest things, no matter how many times I fly), and I get to my destination with enough time to enjoy the afternoon there.

It takes about an hour and a half to get to the airport, and the traffic was good so I got there at about 7am. I had some breakfast, looked around the bookshops for anything interesting to read (there's never anything that appeals), and waited for my flight. Then I was en route to Lisbon!

I got to my accommodation a little before 2pm. It was SO HOT in Lisbon compared to London, and by the time I got there I was a hot and sweaty mess. The poor lady who had to check me in was probably wondering who the hell this lady was that was staying in her place. I had a quick shower and changed out of my London clothes and into something light and summery before heading out.

I usually use my first part-day to scout out things I want to go back to on my next full day (usually my first-day photos are really awful) but Lisbon was just so full of beautiful and interesting places that I couldn't stop taking pics. The azulejos that I had fallen in love with in Porto were EVERYWHERE here! I ended up walking through Alfarma, which was to quickly become my favourite area of Lisbon.

I'm just going to leave that there and dump a whole lot of photos on this post because they are going to tell the story better than I ever will. So here goes...

I stopped by the Airbnb to get changed and went out for a quick dinner. It'd been a long day so it was an early night for me!
