I had been staying in Levanto for three nights and, apart from my brief visit when I first got there, I hadn't really seen the town at all. I didn't have to leave the campsite until 11am, so I set about exploring Levanto a little before heading off.

I was up early and left the campsite early at 7:20am. At this time of the morning, it was delightfully peaceful, just me and the early-morning crowd: workers, joggers, dog-walkers and others. It's so nice wandering around places like that before the hustle and bustle kicks in and early-morning Levanto sure was pretty.

I'd seen posters for Levanto featuring this amazing pink building and a stripey church and was determined to find them. The church was easy, but the pink building a little harder, but I found both. And both did not disappoint!

After finding and visiting my two-must sees, I set about exploring all the little alleyways and trying to find the more hidden places. I also found a sign for the walk from Levanto to Monterosso, that I could have done at the beginning of my Cinque Terre hike. Turns out that Monterosso was quite far away, so I'm glad I didn't do that part as well, but I was tempted this morning to go and just check it out.

I decided I'd seen enough and started making my way back to the campsite. I passed a Conrad (supermarket chain) so I picked up a few supplies before going back to the site, packing up my camper after three nights of being parked in the one spot and hit the road!

Campsite: Pian di Picche

Rating: 7/10. Like most Italian campsites, it lacked some privacy on the pitches (other people were so close by!) but the facilities were good, mostly clean, and they had areas for cleaning everything - feet, dogs, humans, plates, clothes - in a big building which was great in the morning rain that I experienced. People working there were helpful as well.
