I finally found some decently-priced train tickets to York so whizzed up there for a weekend of wandering around and visiting friends! I've been there before but was too young to really remember. It was a lot smaller than I was expecting, and there were a LOT of people there, so everyone was crammed into the tiny streets. So I did a lot of the touristy places at 8am on Sunday morning - it was brilliant! I was the only one out!
I also went to Betty's Tea Room, where they gave me a paper to read, as they have a great no-phone policy, met up with friends for dinner on Saturday night, walked around the walls, discovered a really tasty cafe, visited a National Trust place, and just generally enjoyed the lovely old town.
