Not only do I have a list of places to go in Europe, but I also have a list of places in the UK and places in London! Talk about too many lists!!
Salisbury was one place on my "UK" list that is easy to get to from London and generally not too pricey (trains here are exhorbitantly expensive). The cathedral there is the main draw card, with a spire that is the tallest in the UK, and a copy of original the Magna Carta, written in 1215. I didn't get to go up the spire, as it was closed at the time, but I did see the Magna Carta, which was entirely scrawled in tiny shorthand Latin!
