The night before I went to the Château de Hautefort, I drove around Hautefort for AGES looking for a campsite that was in my camping book. I kept having to turn around and tried to read the driving instructions while driving (very difficult, and one of the few downsides of roadtripping alone). I finally got there by chance not by following the directions, which said right instead of left and that's where I kept going wrong!

The campsite was run by these lovely Dutch people, it was clean and friendly and situated on a farm! There were goats and chickens and all different animals!

The next morning I woke up early and headed off to the Château de Hautefort just down the road. It didn't open until about 10, so I wandered around the town, bought some breakfast and some strawberries, and pottered around the excellent flea market that was taking place. I almost bought an antique copper soup pot too!

The château opened and it was only OK inside. It was quite bland compared to some of them. I was the only one there for a while though and I pretended I was Drew Barrymore in Ever After... as it was THAT very castle!!!
