This year, my family was spending Christmas in Australia, so I decided to go to Europe in search of Christmas markets, snow, roaring fireplaces and all the things that make cold-weather Christmases good.

I flew out of London on Christmas Day, which on hindsight was a very bad idea to book. Nothing, and I mean nothing, works in London on Christmas Day. Not trains, not buses, not most taxi drivers. Thankfully, Uber came to the rescue. I managed to get an Uber to Victoria coach station, then caught a coach to Gatwick. Then I was on my way to Prague. I landed in Prague when it was dark, and to my hotel about 6:30pm. So I dropped off my luggage and headed out to the main square to get some mulled wine and dinner.

The next day, I was up early. The goal was to be at the Prague Castle when it opened. I walked across the Charles Bridge and up to the Castle compound. It was very pretty up there, and the church was pretty spectacular. From there, I made my way down all the cute windy streets to the Loreto – next post!
