Like Montpoupon, Beauregard is not one of the "big" chateaux in the Loire and was peacefully tourist-free when I turned up. It was a lovely looking chateau, but the main reason to go is the 17th century portrait gallery with 327 portraits. Another highlight was the ceiling in the Cabinet of Bells, which was a tiny, wood-panelled room. This ceiling was put together without any nails or glue, and is considered one of the finest pegged ceilings in all of France

This last photo was the only one I took of Blois and it was taken while stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the camp ground. I had planned to go into Blois the next day, but when I woke up in the morning, the campervan again had problems. More of that in the next post, stay tuned...
