Outside the Cathedral are the lovely gardens. Being rather wintery when I went, I obviously didn’t see them at their best; however they had a certain atmosphere to them due to the crumbling ruins and bare branches. It reminded me a little of gardens in a novel – quiet and cloaked in mystery, not bright and garish like they would be in summer.

After the gardens, I went for a wander around Canterbury. I had a very tasty lunch at this little cafe on the high street, wandered past brightly painted houses and over the river, then jumped on the bus back to London.
