DAY 178

14th August 2021.

We left the campsite early, as did some of the other people, and stopped at the lookouts and viewpoints on the way back down. It was really nice.

We then went through Narrabri and out to the Sawn Rocks, where we went for a walk to see the basalt columns. When we came back, the parking lot was full so we definitely went at the right time.

We kept on towards Nundle, stopping at the side of the road to view this amazing silo art by my favourite street art painter.

By the time we got there and had reception, we heard that all of regional NSW was on lockdown. We went to Sheba dam and set up camp, thinking that it might be best rather than being pulled over by cops wondering where we were going.

We were the only ones there so we went to take the best site there, which was so nice! However, about an hour later, a whole heap of bogans turned up and played loud music and were drinking and carrying on. They stayed until about 9pm, boo. But thankfully left eventually.

We had bought Luv-a-duck legs from Woolies (they were half price!), and I fried them, then deglazed the pan with white wine and added some butter beans and butter to the pan to make a sauce. We also fried some brussels sprouts. It was a cheats cassoulet but still yummy.

It was a bloody cold night that night.

DAY 179 – the end

15th August 2021

We left Sheba Dam late, about 10am and drove towards Taree via Toplands Road and Thunderbolts Way. Some lovely houses along there. We also went via Nowendoc and Cooplacurripa. What a lovely place it is too! Love these country roads.

We had lunch at Charity Creek before heading to Josh’s place. It was a bit sad, I wasn't ready for it to be over but that was the end of our adventure. However, due to the stupid covid rules, I had to stay at Josh’s place for another 2 months after that because he had to drop me back home and he possibly would have been stopped by police leaving Sydney.

This is the final map of the entire trip, including out mad dash back from NT to Taree for Josh to fix the car. What an adventure
