We drove through Tennant Creek to Devil’s Marbles. We were going to camp at the National Park campsite there but the site had no shade, and the good spots nearer to the toilets were taken (by caravans, who have toilets onboard…). So instead we drove 11km to the Devil’s Marbles Hotel. $12 per night got us showers and a shady spot under this fantastic tree, winning! There was a pool too but without any shade cloth and it was just too sunny. We sat around and watched while the camping area filled up to chock full. There was a HUGE Mercedes truck that we were sure wasn’t going to fit but just managed it. It was like sport watching people trying to park their rigs!
We had an early dinner then drove out to the Marbles for golden hour. We were a little worried that someone would take our spot as we were out – we don’t have a caravan to mark our spot, but most people were in for the night and no new people took our spot, thank goodness!
The Marbles were insanely beautiful at golden hour. The sunshine just picked up the rocks and turned them shades of orange and red. It was so gorgeous.
It was, however, a windy night… never fun in the tent!
