DAY 104

28th March 2021

Arrived in Port Hedland. Nothing there but trucks and trains and ships for mining companies. Stopped to get food and then kept driving north. Was really hot and sticky so we found a rest area and stayed there the night. Very uneventful day.

DAY 105

29th March 2021

Drove to Broome. We decided that we would stay at a caravan park for 2 nights (turned out to be an absolutely great idea). First impressions of Broome were that it was lovely. There were frangipanis everywhere and green grass and lovely coloured water. I’d picked Cable Beach caravan park and we went there about midday. They allowed us to check in which was good, so we pulled into our spot under the trees, had lunch, then got in the pool. It was bliss. So nice after what were really humid and hot days.

We drove to Woolies to pick up food and popped into BWS then went back to the park and back to the pool.

We finally got out at about 4:20pm, showered and got changed, and headed to Point Gautheame. We’d had a quick stop there earlier but it was just so hot. But this time was beautiful because the sun was going down and the rocks looked lovely.

We then headed out to the Staircase to the Moon viewing area – we timed it perfectly as it was happening tonight and tomorrow. There was supposed to be a market on as well so we were hoping to pick up some food but we weren’t that lucky. We instead went to the Asian Noodle place and I bought nasi goreng for dinner.
