We woke up to a nice morning on the Nullarbor.
However, we then drove through swarms of locusts and that was a bit gross, as the car was covered in grasshoppers – it was foul. We hit the treeless section of the Nullarbor, then stopped off at the Nullarbor Roadhouse for some photos.
Didn’t see any camels, even though there were signs for them, boo! There were lots of caves along the Nullabor so we went to have a look at one. It was more like a giant sinkhole. Some of them are popular with cavers and there are many that even have water in them. So while they might not look like much on top, there's plenty going on below if you know what you're doing (we don't).

We had a look at the cliffs over the Great Australian Bight. They are called Bunda Cliffs and they were pretty epic. Lots of viewpoints. You can camp along them too but it wasn’t sheltered at all, and very windy. Fine if you’re in a caravan but no good to us sadly. Would have been great

We stopped at a campsite about 10km from the WA border and were there very early…….. But then realised that it was because our phones had already changed to WA time, which is 2.5 hours difference to SA! So we’d stopped at 4pm but it was really 1pm WA time. Very confusing. Did some photo edits in the car, it was so windy outside that it was quite miserable. We ate dinner in the car too, out of the wind, using up all the veggies we had because we had to go through a customs check tomorrow for anything fresh – I still managed to forget half a cucumber that was in the fridge!
It was really windy in the night and we didn’t get much sleep. We debated moving somewhere else to try find more shelter but just as we’d made the decision and started packing up in the dark, the wind stopped – typical!
