Sometimes, one of my favourite things to do is to wander around London. There are so many cool hidden corners to this city!
I started at the Old Operating Theatre at London Bridge. It was fascinating - full of herbs and tinctures and old medical equipment and, scarily, jars with human organs in them. And, of course, the old operating theatre!
From there, I walked to St Dunstan's in the East church garden. It's such a pretty green space in the centre of London, you even forget where you are!
Next stop was Dennis Severs's House. You're not allowed to take photos inside (and anyway, the only light is from candles so it wouldn't be worth it), so you'll have to take my word for it: go. It was so amazing. Really really beautiful. But get there early. Only 10 people in at a time and the line can get a bit long.
I then stopped in at Postman's Park to read the tiles about lovely people who died trying to save others. It was both sad and made me proud of humanity at the same time.
St Bartholemew's Church was the next stop. This is the oldest church in London, and was also in Four Weddings and a Funeral! As you can see, it really was lovely and atmospheric inside!
Lastly, I went on a meandering walk through Holborn and along Fleet Street to arrive at the tiny Twinings tea store. A good destination to pick up some tea before heading home to brew a cup or two (I picked the Queen's jubilee tea for the record)!
