I said in my last post about how I loved being able to get off the beaten track while driving France and my next stop and where I spent the night was no different. Again, I was just driving down the D974 when I spotted this lovely roof glinting in the distance, a roof very symbolic of the Bourgogne region. So of course, I drove over to it. It was situated in a commune called Aloxe-Corton.
The amazing roof turned out to be part of Château Corton André which had a vineyard with free wine tastings. There were lots of other wine houses around too, and I bought a lovely bottle of red from one of them.
From there, it was time to look for a place to spend the night. I had a look in my trusty caravan book and found a place just outside my next stop of Beaune, called Savigny-les-Beaune. This turned out to be the most amazing place - I had an evening walk through town and it was so beautiful.
This day goes down as my favourite of the whole trip.
