Compton Castle was apparently used in the film adaptation of Sense & Sensibility, the one with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Not being a huge fan of that Jane Austen story, I didn't recognise it, but appreciated the Castle for what it was - a lovely old stone building with a beautiful garden.
It's actually still part privately owned, which I found amazing. The people who lived there must have a lot of patience to put up with people walking through their house all the time!
