The last day I stopped at two National Trust properties before returning my little hire car. I was at the first, Baddesley Clinton, as soon as it opened. The house itself is a moated manor house that was built in the 13th century. It wasn't open until later than the gardens - they have such late opening hours! I decided I couldn't wait until they opened the house, so I wandered around the gardens and popped up to see the tiny church on the grounds before heading back to my car and off to Charlecote.

Charlecote Park is a 16th century manor house with an ancient deer park on the river Avon, close to Stratford-upon-Avon. Sadly, even though Stratford was on my list, I never managed to make it there, as I was quickly running out of time! I had a walk around the absolutely beautiful house, sampled some welsh cakes cooked in the scullery, and looked through the gardens. There I met a beautiful stag, he was so lovely and not overly scared of us humans gawking at him. Then it was off to Heathrow to drop the car off, then back to London. Such a lovely 4-day weekend, England really is beautiful if you have the time to appreciate it.
