After Hautefort, the next stop on my map was Brantôme. But on the way there, I spotted signs for a chateau that I vaguely recognised the name of. I pulled off and drove up a very unused road, before parking and getting out to walk. The chateau was basically abandoned and falling apart, but in a lovely way, as though it had been left to nature. I do think it was in the process of being fixed, which was good.

Next up was Brantôme. Wow it was busy there... I drove around the car park for a while before finding a very narrow park to put the camper. Brantôme is basically a series of islands joined up by bridges, with the Dronne river running through the whole town. It was such a beautiful place - peaceful, warm and interesting with loads of restaurant tables on the pavement crammed with people. I grabbed a baguette and sat by the river to eat it – what more can you ask for?!
