The last stop of the day was the absolutely amazing Abbaye de Fontfroide. Located in mountains near to the Spanish border, this was a Cistercian monastery that now produces wine. It was stunning - beautiful and peaceful with lovely gardens - I just can't rave about it enough!

There was a cross up on the hill which I had started to walk up towards too. But with the temperatures over 30, sandals that weren't built for the rocky terrain on my feet, not very much water in my bottle and visions of meeting snakes along the way (so Australian!), I turned around. Looking back, I don't regret it, I just wish I had been more prepared. It would have been an amazing view. Next time!
