Waddesdon Manor is a glorious French chateau owned by the National Trust in the middle of England, about 2 hours on the train from London. Granted, it was not a particularly easy place to get to, but it was so worth it. They are closed in the winter months for cleaning, but they do open for a few weeks over Christmas - if I had come a week later, they would have had the Christmas markets on, but just as well because there would have been lots more people there than there was on this cold Saturday!

They did have Christmas trees and decorations set up throughout the area of the house that we were allowed into, which was very pretty and gave the place such a lovely vibe.
