The Barbican is a residential and cultural estate in London. It was designed in the 1960's in the Brutalist style. While this style usually looks quite severe and industrial, the residents of the Barbican have plants flowering and flowing from their balconies, which softens the effect in a beautiful way - I love the combination of the grey sharp edges of the building with the organic forms! As a fan of architecture, I have quite a soft spot for the Barbican.
